On May 29, 2024, at the Elite Banquet Hall, the Toronto Catholic School Board (TCDSB) celebrated its first-ever Black Student Association (BSA) Night of Excellence Gala. Co-hosted by Brebeuf's and Madonna's BSAs and in partnership with members of the Equity & Community Relations Department, over 130 students from secondary schools across the board gathered in their finest attire to dine and dance while honoring the best and brightest among them.
Those in attendance were regaled with inspirational words of wisdom by keynote speakers Associate Director Derek Boyce, Vice-Principals Anne-Marie King, and Adrian Sooroojpal. Students were treated to a live performance by Brebeuf student and Juno Award-winning reggae artist Kairo McLean, who also emceed the event alongside Kayla S. from Madonna Secondary.
Certificates of recognition were presented to 12 deserving BSA leaders who exemplified excellence in academics, social justice, and/or leadership in their school communities.
A fine time was had by all! Many thanks go out to all those who worked tirelessly to make the event a smashing success.
